Are you familiar with the phrase "your health is wealth"? Anyone with a chronic illness will tell you that your health is indeed a breadth of wealth. If you can't live fully because you are never at your peak of performance, and maybe you can barely function due to illness, you will existence is extremely difficult and positive thinking even harder.
For today's challenge you will think about how often you are ill and how often you are well. Give thanks for the times that you were well and really feel the gratitude for those times. Next, think about the times you have been sick. Think of one positive thing that came out of your illness and give thanks for that.
Here a couple of examples to help you.
- I currently have a chronic illness. It is mild, but it is there and does interfere with my life. For me the blessing in the illness is forcing myself to slow down and care for myself instead of putting myself last. I am grateful for that.
- My mother has had a multitude of serious health issues. She looks back on her illnesses and is grateful that they forced her not to hold a job. If she had had a job she wouldn't have been able to do all of the things that she did for my school and for me.
